classic + modern

From time to time we have the opportunity to showcase a gown in a styled shoot. For those who are wondering "What's a styled shoot?", let us give you a little background. As a local shop we love to collaborate with other local businesses and creatives. We LOVE local, Bismarck is a thriving community with so many amazing entrepreneurs, artists, and makers!! A styled shoot is a way for us to get to work with different photographers, florists, and decorators - as well as showcase a particular gown or style that we think our brides might love.

This particular shoot took place out at University of Mary. This venue gave us a unique opportunity to pull our inspiration from their architecture. We want to show brides that Bismarck style, North Dakota weddings, and Midwest style doesn’t have to be one look! With the nod to a traditional church wedding combined with all the interesting lines and dimensions found on campus we knew we wanted to showcase a clean, timeless look. University of Mary is located just south of the city of Bismarck, and we just love all the history and architecture out there!!

Traditional meets urban...

We love the mix of such a clean classic look with a little bit of a modern edge. The open back on the Sottero & Midgley gown we used and sleek hair really help modernize the bridal look along with the all-greenery bouquet. Brides are loving a modern look, but our North Dakota bride is always a little classic. The combination of these trends is the perfect fit for an ND bride, she might just not even know it yet - and that’s why we love styled shoots!

We wanted to emulate that classic meets modern look in the menswear from Black Tie Optional. A white jacket always has a super formal and traditional look to it, but we paired it with slim black pants and a printed bowtie and pocket square to keep things all black & white but have a little dimension.

With so many boho-inspired casual trends (which don't get me wrong - we still obsess over those trends) it was nice to show that you can go in the complete opposite direction. Styled shoots always leave us feeling inspired!

XO-
